The Best Moments In Life

Feeling Insignificant

This painting addresses the struggle of feeling insignificant. Like the world is so big and you feel...small. Why the whale? or Whales...cause there is like 4 in this painting. Whales in some cultures are known as the Keepers of History. So no matter how insignificant a person feels, they will not go down in history unnoticed. Well what about the ship? Well originally this painting was about Neverland and eternal youth (which goes along with he painting below), which I guess still fits with the new theme of this painting, but I'm just gonna stop there.

Just around the Corner
This painting shows the struggle of a girl who has to deal with a disability for the rest of her life....until Gods Kingdom comes. It's based off this video here ( https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/children/become-jehovahs-friend/songs/144-keep-your-eyes-on-the-prize/ ) which shows what life will be like in paradise in the near future and how this little girl is looking forward to that future when she will be able to walk again. Her drawings on the wall and the one of herself correspond with the people in the background on the other side of the painting (the no longer blind artist, the family on a picnic, and herself playing with pandas). The video and its representation is taken from the scriptures Revelation 21:4, Isaiah 35:3-7, and Isaiah 65: 17, 20-25 (Which I am not going to cite here because there is beauty in research and I want you to look it up on your own. Do not be lazy, by just accepting what I say, and see it for yourself)
.
Perserverance
This painting deals with a obstacle of sever illness. As you may notice, the boy is slightly smiling. He has accepted that he may not get any better, but he is not giving up because of it. He is persevering though it. The Koi fish have their own symbolism of course. They symbolize overcoming adversity in this instance. The colors of the two main Koi fish are also significant. In the left one the grey represents security, purple-spirituality and ambition, and white-innocence. In the right one the blue means loyalty and tranquility, orange-courage, and Black(in the spots that are a little hard to see)-protection.

Discovering Self -worth

This painting is about the struggle with finding self-worth and confidence. The flowers breaking out of the stitches in her chest and over her heart represent that self worth. It’s not a struggle that can be easily brought out in this painting, but now you know because you’re reading this. I think that’s the same in real life, that this kind of struggle can’t be distinguished by the human eye by others. We can only discover self-worth within ourselves. We can't just be validated by what others think of us.

Sprouts and Solace

This piece is called Sprouts and Solace. The Sprouts part comes from the fact that there are a lot of sprouts in this painting (duh) but they symbolize that this couple's love and marriage is fairly new. It has already taken root and started to grow, but it still has time to develop and become stronger. Solace means to comfort or to console in times of distress. In this picture specifically, they find comfort with each other and push through rough times ahead. there are several obstacles that they have to face: being an interracial couple, a young couple, and newly married.

Body image

This painting addresses Body Image (this does not include HEALTHY WEIGHT LOSS/GAIN). Body Image issues is most commonly associated with girls, but I chose to use a boy because many people think that boys don't have to deal with this issue, and the  most common is that they want to have this fit, 0% fat, muscular body. People often too go through extremities like anorexia, bulimia, working out for too long, abusing weight loss medication, and depriving themselves of the nutrition their body needs to get the common "ideal" body. Well...maybe we should change our ideal body image from Magic Mike Channing Tatum to dadbod Channing Tatum and start putting some meat on our bones. (although this image is visually addressing those who want to be thinner for visual reasons and not health reasons, this also includes those who abuse their body to gain weight because they think they are too thin, and those who make unnecessary body modifications for the sake of looking like, per say, a celebrity.)
